How To Self-Publish To Kindle With Scrivener In 5 Minutes

December 27, 2011 By Ben

Want to self-publish a book to Kindle? This is how easy it is with Scrivener.

Once you have your book written in Scrivener, it takes about 5 minutes to submit it to the Kindle store (assuming you have a cover, book description, and price ready to go). From there, it will generally be ready for people to buy within 12 hours.

Then within 13 hours, you can find out which of your Facebook friends are actually friends and bought your book.

About the video:

I originally searched for this on YouTube, but couldn’t find anything. So then I outsourced the book to the Philippines. Didn’t like the work he sent back (which may have been my fault) so I decided to do it myself. Turned out to be much simpler than I thought.

Also, if you enjoy the act of laughing, get the book on Amazon.

This was very useful. I would love to hear more about your writing/publishing process, perhaps in a future blog post?

Definitely! It has become an obsession of mine. There will be many more posts to come on the writing / publishing process.

Do you happen to know if it’s just as easy to get on Barnes & Noble (Nook), Sony Reader, and Smashwords? Or if you’re going to get into that many ebook arenas, is it more efficient to go with a service that will do it all for you in one fell swoop?

Good question. I’m not sure. If I were to go into all of the other channels, I’d be very tempted to use Book Baby (
http://www.bookbaby.com/). Getting into the Kindle store is easy, but I know others can be more difficult.

Thanks for the info about Book Baby. I also have a colleague who offers the service of setting up e-books in multiple venues. I’ve been trying to decide if I want to ask him to deal with the hassle in return for a share of profits, or take on the hassle myself and hold onto profits.
