Experimenting with a Free eBook

February 10, 2012 By Ben

My book is available for free today. It’s funny. It’s short. Even if you don’t want to read it, download it anyway so it rises up the Amazon ranks like a Phoenix out of the ashes.

The question I want to know…will sales increase from giving away a free book for one day? Help me find out.

Well, I’ve done my part in downloading it with no intention of reading it what-so-ever..  Just kidding this looks hilarious and I’m looking forward to it. As far as giving ebooks away to increase sales, I have heard this to be a very effective tactic.

JA Konrath and company has had great success with this as well as David Kazzie and his book JACKPOT (which I personally thought was a really great book).  Here is a link to his blog where he explains how it went…

The only thing I’m not sure of is if doing it for just one day is enough… most of the people I hear of doing this successfully do it for 2-3 days… but who knows.

Regardless, best of luck to you with it and now that I’m subscribed to your blog here, please let us know your results so we can empathize with your 1st world problem of only making a few grand in a few hours.

    Cheers.

      Thanks, Brad.

Now, I’m not sure what to do…I’ve given away about 1,600 so far, but is that enough to get traction once it goes back to paid?

It just cracked the top 10 in humor, so that might help:

Whatever I do, I’m sure I’ll write about it next week.

Brad, I thank you for linking to my blog post in your comment — and I’m thrilled that you liked my book.

Ben — congrats on your success with your book, nice to see others have success with the Select Program.
