About 4 years ago, someone recommended a TV show to me. Having nothing in my Netflix (by mail!) queue, I got the first season on DVD. It wasn’t mind-blowing, but had a solid premise and was good enough to keep watching the next season, which was currently in progress.
Halfway through season 2, without a cable subscription, I was waking up an hour early before work on Monday morning to buy/watch the episodes as fast as possible. Hooked.
For the next three seasons, Breaking Bad somehow continued the amazing uphill climb of continually getting better. Almost every other show I’ve really enjoyed (that lasted longer than one season), went through waves of being really good to okay to maybe redeeming itself somewhat by the finale if I was lucky. Most good shows on TV overstay their welcome, diluting the much loved characters while running them through thinner and thinner plot lines. Seinfeld left at the right time while Happy Days coined the phrase “jumped the shark.”
Breaking Bad was amazing right through the very end. It only finished last Sunday, but I already miss it. If you haven’t seen it, I don’t think clip below gives any spoilers, but you should be heading straight to Netflix to binge watch it anyway. It’s hard to argue that it’s not one of the greatest shows ever on TV.
