Sometimes You Don’t Know Until You Start

February 2, 2012 By Ben

The video below took me about 30-40 hours to make.

From the start, I had a clear vision of what I wanted from it, including the storyline, a few of the quotes, and some of the images.

I didn’t know how the video would end, though.

I started anyway.

I shot 95% of the video footage I needed.

I still didn’t know how to end the video.

I finished editing about 50% of the video and still didn’t have an ending.

When recording the voice over, the adorable four year old frequently asked, “Are we done yet?”

Yahtzee!

I had the perfect ending for the video.

Before taking on a project, plan everything you can, but don’t let not having everything 100% laid out stop you from picking up momentum.

It’s likely some of your best ideas will come after you already started.
