One Easy Way To Make Your Writing Funnier

There are many things that make someone funny, so this one single tip won’t automatically get you a job at The Onion, but it will help you get a few more chuckles.

How To Make Your Writing Funnier: Be very specific.

Specific details immediately make something more vivid and help paint a picture in the mind of the reader. Being more specific also gives you a chance to be more creative with analogies.

Example:

General: The fat cat walked across the street.

Specific: A cat with a gut the size of a regulation bowling ball waddled across the street like its last meal was a quaalude sandwich.
