The only way to gain momentum and move forward while cross country skiing is to lean in and push.
Faced with a decision, the default position for most people is defense not offense. When something goes wrong we look to defend ourselves and cast blame instead of taking a proactive approach.
Instead of hoping things work out and scrambling to pick up the pieces after a mess, lean in to what comes your way.
Economy tanks? You alone can’t fix it. Embrace it and do everything proactive you possibly can. Become indispensable to your company and take initiative.
Lose your job? What are you doing to network and continue to develop your skills? Being stagnant while wishing for a job isn’t effective. You have to constantly be pushing yourself forward.
What happens when you lean into problems?
You take control. Instead of being pushed around and beaten by the waves, you learn how to surf.
Suddenly you have no excuses. When you have control, you are responsible. You own your future.
